To make the students aware of their environment ‘Van Mahotsava’ the festival of planting trees was celebrated by the members of Eco-club of St.Agnes CBSE School on 5th July at the school. Students came to school on the day with attractive green symbols such as ribbon, bows, badges, hand bands and accersories on their uniform in order to take active part in the celebration.

Mr. P. Shreedar, Regional Forest officer was the chief guest of the day. The other dignitaries were the Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C and the Vice Principal Sr. Vinitha A.C. The Eco Club members began the day by invoking the blessings of God. Rushali B.S of class VI welcomed the gathering. The students of Eco club brought out the significance of Van Mahotsava through a cultural programme consisting of dance, song and a skit. The chief guest appealed to the students to plant at least one tree on the occasion of Van Mahotsava. He further said that we have to beat at pollution and say no to plastic. Speaking on the occasion Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda appreciated the efforts put in by the Eco club members. Her message was that we have to protect and save our Mother Land for future. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Varsha Bhat of class VIII, followed by the plantation of the sapling by the Chief Guest. Under the guidance of the Principal and the teachers students took an initiative to plant indoor plants and had a formation of a tree to make it lively. To mark the closing of the Van Mahotsava festival students went on a rally holding placards with catchy slogans and reciting the slogans on the awareness of saving earth for better tomorrow.
The main purpose of celebration like Van Mahotsava reminds us of the fineness and superiority of trees, while making the implication of our inherited assets and that without us tees cannot adjust or survive.
